Self-service domain federation
IT admin experience
The problem / Our current domain federation process is manual and tedious. We send google forms back and forth to the customer for configuration details before passing through multiple hands in order to get to implementation.
The user / This feature is geared towards our larger enterprise customers where data compliance and security settings are often delegated to an IT or technical admin.
game plan
Make it easy for customers to set up SSO and claim domains without playing the telephone game with us for months.
Require just the amount of information needed from the customer and automate where possible. Speak to the IT admin in their language.
Figure out how the heck federations even work
I didn't know how federations work! I met with engineers and support reps to understand how our process works currently and how a self-serve federation could work technically.
Rap battle with engineers
Initial concepts were reviewed by our engineers, but we had many conversations to balance user experience with highly technical requirements.
Compare, design, review
Conducted a comparative analysis of domain federation services, designed detailed screens and workflows, demoed a clickable prototype to stakeholders for feedback and approval
